About Masarat Center for Development & Empowerment
Establishment
The Masaraat Center for Development and Empowerment, which is an affiliate of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) was established in 1989.
Previously, it was known as the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment. In 2016, the name has been changed to the Masaraat Center for Development and Empowerment.
The center holds international accreditation to teach Pearson Foundation programs from the United Kingdom.
by this, SCHS is the first institution concerned with persons with disabilities in the region to obtain this accreditation.
Masaraat Center for Development and Empowerment is considered the last stage of the educational and training pyramid according to the rehabilitation process methodology in SCHS. It aims to empower, qualify, and train people with disabilities to find job and educational opportunities. It also seeks to enhance and consolidate cooperation with the institutions of public and private sector to achieve common goals, by providing various services to develop the skills of job seekers and qualify them for work. The Masaraat Center for Development and Empowerment provides its services for institutions through training programs, workshops, and consultations in the field of hiring people with disabilities.

First: Continuing Education Department

Independent living program
The Independent Living Program is a study program that accepts participants aged 16+ years. They are people with moderate disabilities who meet the conditions for enrollment in the independent living program and wish to refine their personal and life skills and employ them in aspects of community life.
The program offers an exceptional experience that combines community integration, interactive activities, and the preparation of an individual educational plan that suits the needs of each enrollee and is compatible with the needs of his family. -

Foundation program
The Foundation Program is a one-year program that welcomes new members aged 16+ years of people with mild disabilities who meet the conditions of enrollment. The foundation program aims to prepare students to complete their studies within various professional programs in Masaraat Centre.

Second: Recruitment
The Employment Department aims to empower persons with disabilities economically, achieve sustainability, independence, and career development through access for all people with disabilities, equal employment opportunities and non-discrimination in employment. In addition, improvement of People with disabilities quality of life, and achieving social inclusion. Masaraat Center seeks to empower institutions, of public and private sectors from achieving common goals via providing various services to develop the skills of job seekers, and rehabilitation for the labor market.
The department also provides services to institutions through training programs, workshops, and providing consultations in the areas of employment for people with disabilities. This process is followed up through admission and evaluation standards and support services to evaluate performance and career development.

Third: Projects Productivity
The Productive Projects Department aims to be a model of a leading social institution to empower people with disabilities in the United Arab Emirates by providing vocational training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities, enabling them to accomplish their work in a typical work environment, and developing the skills of talented people to produce luxury customed made handcrafted products in productive projects. In addition, empowering people with disabilities through developing personal and professional skills and developing capabilities during the training period and promoting economic empowerment, sustainability, independence, and career development to become contributing members of society and obtain equal employment opportunities.
These projects aim to adopt the capabilities of people with disabilities and qualify them for the labor market by empowering them in the field of industry and production, as this contributes to strengthening the idea of empowering and independence of individuals with disabilities and integrating them into society to contribute to the development of societal culture through a group of creative and innovative ideas and achievements made by their own hands.
To enhance the department’s objectives, the Takween brand was launched, which is a brand created by the Masaraat Center for Development and Empowerment, affiliated with SCHS. It is concerned with products made by people with disabilities. The following brands fall under it:

Admission to SCHS
Registration and Admission at Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services Procedures for registering new students:
- First:
- Attend in person to register at the Social Service Department, in the administration building during official working hours.
- Register using a valid original ID.
- Provide a recent medical report from an accredited entity / Provide a psychological educational report (if available).
- The center is determined based on age group and type of disability.
- Second:
- The school or center's social worker will contact to schedule a personal interview.
- Communicate with the family and inform them of the beneficiary's file acceptance if conditions are met.
- The social worker completes registration data, including filling out the social case study.
- The social worker receives the required documents and health reports as mandatory attachments for the admission process.
- Third:
- The beneficiary pays a non-refundable seat reservation fee of AED 1000.
- The beneficiary pays a non-refundable file opening fee of AED 200 to join the services of the Physical and Occupational Therapy Center or Family Counseling services. For more details regarding school fees and transportation services, click here.
