About Therapy Center

Establishment

The Therapeutic Center was established in 2013 as one of the branches of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, providing rehabilitation and therapy services in the evening period for school-integrated children, preschoolers, as well as children and young people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, and disabilities. The center includes an integrated team of professional specialists and specialists in the latest diagnostic and therapeutic programs, ensuring the beneficiaries receive the highest quality of consulting and rehabilitation services based on the best and latest evidence-based international practices.

The center has expanded in providing its services, as a branch of the therapeutic center was opened in the eastern region of Kalba in early 2021.

Saturday and Sunday From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Disabilities

  • Children integrated into schools and kindergartens.
  • Children and young people with mild intellectual disabilities.
  • Children and young people with disabilities who wish to receive intensive individual rehabilitation sessions.

Beneficiary age group: from three years and above.


Curricula and assessment tools

The therapy center provides services based on many accredited training programs in special education, such as:

  • The Assessment, Evaluation and Programming System program for children under the age of six.
  • TEACCH program for developing sensory and cognitive skills for children with autism spectrum disorder.
  • ABLLS program.
  • PECS communication exchange program for communication disorders.
  • Talk Tools program.
  • ACB program for receptive and expressive language stimulation.
  • Specialized rehabilitation programs in physical and occupational therapy.

Admission to SCHS

Registration and Admission at Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services Procedures for registering new students:

  • First:
    • Attend in person to register at the Social Service Department, in the administration building during official working hours.
    • Register using a valid original ID.
    • Provide a recent medical report from an accredited entity / Provide a psychological educational report (if available).
    • The center is determined based on age group and type of disability.
  • Second:
    • The school or center's social worker will contact to schedule a personal interview.
    • Communicate with the family and inform them of the beneficiary's file acceptance if conditions are met.
    • The social worker completes registration data, including filling out the social case study.
    • The social worker receives the required documents and health reports as mandatory attachments for the admission process.
