SCHS EARLY INTERVENTION CENTER SCREENED 5900 CHILDREN SINCE 2006

Nov 27, 2018

On Tuesday, November 27, 2018, the Center for Early Intervention, which is an affiliate of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), has organized a screening program to discover developmental delays in the children of Muwaileh Suburb on the hands of a complete team of specialists.  This activity is part of Early Intervention Week, which SCHS celebrates every year.  It coincides with the anniversary of the opening of the center in 1994.

Mr. Mohamed Fawzy, the Director of the Center, has confirmed that approximately 5900 children from nurseries, schools, and childhood centers benefited from the screening program, which discovered cases of developmental delays or disability at an early age.  Those cases received the necessary services.

He has pointed out that the services offered by the center represent an urgent suitable intervention to improve education, precautions measures, and therapy at an early age.  Therefore, parents must realize the importance of early intervention and should cooperate constantly with the center to reach the best results.

Mrs. Najwa Abu Al-Nasr, a First Educational Supervisor and the Coordinator of Early Intervention Week Events, indicated that the center integrated ten students with disabilities into Bumble Bee Nursery in order to make them develop their skills and have fun at the same time.

Early Intervention Week, which began on Saturday November 24, included a number of initiatives and activities.  The center invited the fathers of registered children to a meeting in order to involve them in the educational process and consolidated the relationships of cooperation with the center for the benefit of children with disabilities.

However, the center was planning to organize ‘Childhood Seconds’ activity at Science Island in order to raise people’s awareness and integrate non-disabled students with their peers.  The center canceled the activity due to the bad weather.  The center would organize the activity as soon as possible.

To conclude Early Intervention Week, the center is going to organize (Free your Mind) activity in order to release mothers of children with disabilities stress and endorse positive energy.
