FOR 8 YEARS IN A RAW, AL AMAL SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF IS A SHOWCASE SCHOOL
For 8 years in a raw, Microsoft Corporation has been choosing Al Amal School for the Deaf, which is an affiliate of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), a Showcase School. The school considers teaching and training students with hearing impairment with the latest learning methods that incorporate modern technology to constantly develop the educational process.
The principal of the school, Ms. Afif Al-Haridi, expressed her happiness with the accomplishment and the eagerness of the administrative and instructional personnel to raise the academic and scientific proficiency of deaf pupils in accordance with the finest worldwide standards.
She said, “The most crucial programs for teaching deaf students are used at Al Amal School for the Deaf. These include the Office Mix program, which facilitates experience sharing with other schools, Office programs, Teams, and other programs. Additionally, lessons are recorded, translated into sign language, and uploaded to students' accounts on the Smart Learning Portal so they can review and follow along at home. This is especially important because the school has been using the Mohammed bin Rashid Smart Learning Program for many years”.
She added, “After completing courses taught by the company's most knowledgeable experts, many of the school's teachers have earned the Microsoft Expert Teacher Certificate”. She cited the school's tremendous efforts to help individuals with hearing impairments earn a college degree, utilizing bilingualism (spoken and sign) and cutting-edge technology to achieve this.
Al-Haridi praised the partnership with Microsoft, which helps deaf students acquire more scientific experiences that will help them express their talents and boost their confidence and explained that technology is a top priority for empowering deaf people and giving them the skills they need to overcome obstacles.
Sixty of the 102 "one hundred and two students" who have graduated from high school thus far have gone on to pursue further education. Many of them have already earned college degrees in a variety of fields. After completing their university education, many of them entered the workforce.
The first deaf and hard of hearing school in the United Arab Emirates is Al Amal School and Kindergarten for the Deaf. It was founded in 1979 and uses bilingualism (speech and sign language) to teach pupils while staying up to date with the most recent advancements in a prestigious learning atmosphere where students, parents, and faculty members all feel mutually trusted. This trust lasts for forty-four years and is renewed.
Instilling noble values and morals in the souls of our deaf and hard of hearing children under the guidance of an elite group of the best educational competencies is something we at Al Amal School and Kindergarten for the Deaf are very eager to do. We want to raise educated, cultured, and aware generations that can enter life positively and work together to continuously advance the renaissance and progress of society.
Educational (classroom) services, family counseling, assessment and consultation, speech and language, physical and occupational therapy, support, music therapy, and auditory training services are the most crucial fundamental services offered in schools.
Finally, the director of Al Amal School and Kindergarten for the Deaf reaffirmed her resolve to carry on the meaningful mission of teaching the deaf in accordance with the best international practices and to strengthen collaboration with all relevant parties in order to accomplish its objectives, God willing.
