"AJAD" ARRANGED SEVERAL TRAINING SESSIONS DURING THE ADVOCACY MONTH

Dec 12, 2024

In honor of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) affiliated Ajad Training Center is hosting several training sessions this December with the theme "Advocacy." Its goal is for participants to become more skilled and contribute more to the empowerment and assistance of people with disabilities.

In this regard, the Ajad Center hosted the "My Rights as an Employee" session for staff members with mental disorders on December 11th, marking the start of the training initiatives. Ms. Nahla Hassan, a human resources executive, led the training, which was offered by the SCHS Human Resources Unit to introduce the rights and responsibilities of the employee.

The center is hosting the Crisis Prevention Institute-accredited "Safe Behavioral Intervention" program from December 12–14. Enhancing employees' ability to handle crucial events and guaranteeing a stable and safe work environment for all parties depends on providing trainers with specialized training. The training will be conducted in English, and the supplier will award the participant with an accredited certificate. For the first time, this program for disability-focused institutions is being held in the United Arab Emirates.

Professor Dr. Bandar Al-Otaibi from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will present the "Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scale" program at Ajad on December 15–17, 2024. The course is a specialized training program that emphasizes a thorough understanding of the Vineland Scale and applying it as a useful instrument for evaluating the adaptive behavior of individuals with disabilities in Arabic.

The artist Dr. Reem Saadeh from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is presenting a specialist curriculum in the methods and applications of theatrical therapy for the first time with the kind assistance and collaboration of the Arab theatrical Authority. On December 16–17–18–19, the first part of the foundational program in theatrical therapy techniques and applications will take place. The program is a workshop that blends creativity and psychological benefits by using theater as a teaching tool in classrooms and while working with those who have disabilities. Additionally, participants will receive an Arab Theater Authority-accredited certificate.

On December 16 and 17, educational supervisor Mai Mohsen will introduce the "Self-Advocacy Curriculum" as part of SCHS's efforts to increase awareness of self-advocacy and to certify those involved. This self-advocacy training course has been authorized by SCHS. It seeks to give self-advocacy professionals the abilities they need to handle the curriculum, which was developed by the trainer and implemented and authorized by SCHS.

The goal of the program, "Education Strategies for People with Severe Disabilities," which will be presented on December 18 by Ms. Anwar Obaid, Head of SCHS's Center for Severe and Multiple Disabilities, is to highlight creative approaches and successful practices that support the education of individuals with severe disabilities.

The first level of the sign language course, which will be hosted by Ajad from December 23 to 26, will mark the end of this prestigious series of training programs. Its goal is to help participants learn the fundamentals of sign language so they can improve communication with the deaf and create a cohesive and comprehensive society. Professor Wael Samir, a qualified specialist in sign language, will teach the course.

Ajad Training Center

It is important to remember that training for Sharjah City Humanitarian Services started as soon as the organization was founded. As SCHS's core value and real capital, training and qualifying its human cadres was a parallel path to the organization's professional development.

As a specialized center licensed by the Sharjah Private Education Authority, Ajad Training Center was founded in 2020 as the training arm of SCHS. It offers its various training programs to the public within an approved training plan at the start of each academic year and strives to equip working cadres with up-to-date knowledge, skills, and experiences.

In addition to using and investing SCHS's human and technical capabilities by sharing knowledge and forming mutually beneficial professional partnerships with various local, regional, and international institutions, the center's primary goals are to improve the efficiency of those working with people with disabilities and to develop their knowledge and capabilities by offering a range of high-quality applied training programs, improving the performance of institutions in dealing with beneficiaries of people with disabilities, and improving the environment that facilitates their inclusion.
