Nov 26, 2019

Sharjah Private Education Authority has licensed Al Amal School for the Deaf, which is an affiliate of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) as Private School.  This is a new remarkable accomplishment added to school’s record.

Mrs. Afaf Al Haradi, School’s Principle, said, “It is an important step at all levels, especially as it will provide easy access to information related to education and training, follow-up, supervision processes and courses by the Authority.

She added, “In 1979, SCHS established Al Amal School for the Deaf.  The school has been offering services to approximately 100 students with hearing impairment.  Since 2008, the school began graduating students who finished high school.  The number of graduates has reached 74 students”.

Mrs. Afaf Al Haradi has confirmed Microsoft’s selection of the school to be a showcase school for five consecutive years.  The school incorporates two types of languages (spoken and sign language).  It attracts the best experts and professionals in education in order to stay updated with the latest trends in education.

School’s Principle indicated that 69 students who graduated since 2008 have joined University of Sharjah in a variety of majors.  In addition, two graduates joined the Jordanian University and three more joined Al Ain University.

Al Haradi has pointed out that the school won many awards such as Khalifah Award for Education and Sharjah Award for Educational Excellence.  A number of its students won many awards in science and knowledge.

To conclude, Al Haradi said,” Al Amal School for the Deaf is the first school in UAE to rehabilitate and educate deaf or hard of hearing students.  The school uses Ministry of Education textbooks and is part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Learning Program since 2013”.
