AL AMAL SCHOOL STUDENTS DESIGN (VEX – IQ) ROBOT AND PARTICIPATE IN UAE INNOVATION MONTH

The students of Al Amal School for the Deaf are going to participate in UAE Innovation Month for the second time.  Sharjah Emirate is going to organize this event from February 8 to 14, 2019, at University City Hall.  The event aims at promoting Sharjah Emirate as a global center for innovation, building skills as well as spreading the culture of innovation throughout motivating public and private sectors as well as individuals to adapt innovative practices.

Ms. Afaf Al Haridi, Director of Al Amal School, has confirmed the importance of participating in the UAE Innovation Month as part of encouraging students to introduce new ideas and innovate distinctive projects that will enhance their knowledge, social skills, and integrate them with their non-disabled peers in various fields.

Al Haridi talked about students hard work in designing (VEX – IQ) robot in order to present in the happening.  One of the main characteristics of this robot is its ability to preform difficult tasks at work place.

She said, “Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) has great care to educate, train, advocate, and empower persons with disabilities in order to increase their self-confidence, integrate them into society, and consolidate the relationships of cooperation with local, regional, and international institutions”.

For her part, Mrs. Hanan Zaki, Design and Technology Teacher at the School, has confirmed that the main purpose of school contribution to UAE Innovation Month is not restricted to learning science.  The school aims at using these occasions to teach students social skills, integrate them into society, and increase their self-confidence.

In addition, she pointed out the importance of these skills for persons with hearing impairment.  It develops their personality and give them a chance for a better future and success not only in science but also in every area of life.

Students with hearing impairment were so excited to present their project and learn from other projects presented from other schools, universities, and institutes.  They have great hope of having a successful contribution to this event.
