CULTURAL COMPETITIONS AND ENTERTAINMENT ACTIVITIES IN RAMADAN FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

After taking precautionary and safety measures, the Ministry of Interior, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, the General Command of Sharjah Police and Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, organized a Ramadan educational, sports and entertainment event for city students with disabilities and their parents. Al Wafa School for Capacity Development (Ramalah branch) hosted the event.

The distinctive Ramadan event was not limited to close attendance. Organizers were keen on the participation of students with disabilities and their parents remotely by broadcasting the activity through (Zoom) App.

Through the event, His Excellency Brigadier General Muhammad Butti Al Shamsi, Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior, started the event with a speech in which he congratulated participants on the holy month of Ramadan and the golden jubilee of the Ministry of the Interior. He stressed that making persons with disabilities happy is a societal responsibility. He wished them and the workers of the city continued success.

Captain Rashid Ahmed Al-Laghish from the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior has confirmed that the aim of the event is to make persons with disabilities happy and integrate them into society. He emphasized that they are an integral part of society.  He praised the fruitful cooperation with the Sharjah Police General Command, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services.

He said, “As part of the forty-sixth Arab Deaf Week activities, we organized an awareness-raising lecture on fraudulent operations with electronic cards and how to properly use the card a few days ago.  The future would witness the organization of many activities directed to people with disabilities and society”.

His Excellency Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Saeed Al-Dhahouri, Head of Public Relations Department at the Sharjah Police General Command, praised the fruitful cooperation to make people with disabilities happy. He stressed that Sharjah Police spares no effort to strengthen this cooperation to reach the best results.

For his part, His Excellency Nasser Al-Abdoul, Regional Director of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, a member of the Sustainability Council in the bank, spoke about the many initiatives that the bank participates in during the holy month of Ramadan. The most important of which is the initiative of the 100 million meals campaign in addition to the many initiatives in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior. The most important of which is the initiative (Providing a Muslim with a Meal to break his fasting).

Al-Abdoul explained that Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank is keen to participate in all initiatives that target people with disabilities and their parents. The bank aims at making people with disabilities and their parents happy and integrate them into society.

Ms. Mona Abdul Karim Al Yafei, Director of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, thanked the Ministry of Interior, the General Command of Sharjah Police and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank for organizing this event and their keenness to cooperate with the city in serving people with disabilities and their parents. She wished for this cooperation to continue in the future.

Al-Yafei explained that the city has been always strengthening and developing the relationships of cooperation with local, Arab and international bodies and institutions.  The city aims to provide services to people with disabilities in accordance with international best practices and in all circumstances.

At the end of the event, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services honored the Ministry of Interior, Sharjah Police General Headquarters and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank with certificates of gratitude and appreciation.
