A DELEGATION FROM THE KINGDOM OF THE CHILD REHABILITATION CENTER VISITS SHARJAH CITY FOR HUMANITARIAN
On Thursday, January 15, 2026, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) received a delegation from the Kingdom of the Child Rehabilitation Center in the Sultanate of Oman. It was headed by Ms. Sheikha Al-Gharibi, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors. The visit aims at learning about the services provided by SCHS to its students with disabilities according to best international practices, sharing experiences, and discussing ways of cooperation and partnership between the two sides.
The Omani delegation was welcomed by SCHS Director General Ms. Mona Abdul Karim Al-Yafai and several other directors and officials. She gave a thorough explanation of the departments and branches of SCHS in Khorfakan, Al Dhaid, and Kallba, as well as the nature of the academic, technical, professional, psychological, and social services offered to individuals with disabilities since 1979.
The delegation's tour then started with an introduction to the "Early Intervention Center," followed by the "Al-Amal School for the Deaf," the "Masarat Center for Development and Empowerment," and the "Al Wafa School for Capacity Development" and the Sharjah Autism Center at SCHS's main headquarters. The group was informed about the total number of SCHS beneficiaries and the successful initiatives created by individuals with disabilities in the Al-Badi suburb, particularly in the "Barashi neighborhood."
Future Cooperation and Partnership
On behalf of the center's delegation, Ms. Sheikha Al-Gharibi expressed her immense happiness with this visit, which, God willing, will be crowned with success and serve as a foundation for close collaboration with SCHS and gaining from its leadership and expertise in offering the best services for children with disabilities.
She said, “During our tour of SCHS’s departments and classes, we noticed the great attention that its wise administration, led by Her Excellency Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, pays to academic and vocational education, and employs expertise at the highest level so that SCHS’s students can benefit from it in various fields.
She spoke about the beginning of a real partnership between SCHS and the center, especially since the Kingdom of the Child Rehabilitation Center is planning to organize a special conference on people with disabilities in the Al Dhahirah Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. This is an invitation to SCHS and its employees to be an important part of this conference, and to contribute to providing accumulated experience and knowledge so that those working in this field at the level of the Gulf and the Arab world can benefit from it.
Ms. Sheikha concluded by expressing her heartfelt gratitude to Her Excellency Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Her Excellency Ms. Mona Abdul Karim Al Yafei, and all of the SCHS staff for their kind welcome and generosity, as well as for the benefits that the delegation members received from this visit, with the hope that it will be a good beginning for future reciprocal visits.
A More Just and Inclusive Society
For her part, Ms. Mona Abdul Karim said, “Under the guidance of Sheikha Jameela bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of SCHS, and His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, SCHS is eager to form productive alliances with regional, Arab, and global organizations in order to continue offering and developing services in accordance with the most recent and best standards.”
She added, “Caring for children in general and children with disabilities in particular is very important to SCHS because it is a moral and humanitarian obligation before it is a social responsibility. They have potential and skills that should be valued, supported, and given more authority. In order to maintain their dignity, boost their self-esteem, and assist them in creating an autonomous and fruitful future, they are entitled to proper education, health care, and full integration into society.”
Al-Yafai concluded by stating that the delegation's visit to SCHS from the Kingdom of the Child Rehabilitation Center in the Sultanate of Oman will mark the start of productive collaboration between the two organizations because funding the needs of children with disabilities is an investment in a society that is more equitable, inclusive, and compassionate.
