Jun 18, 2019

On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, the Center for Early Intervention organized a graduation ceremony for 56 children for the academic year 2018 – 2019 at Sharjah Institute of Theatrical Arts.  Mrs. Mona Abdel Karim, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), a large number of parents, SCHS officials, and specialists were present.

Mr. Mohammad Faouzi, Director of SCHS Early Intervention Center, has confirmed that graduating children are going to join a number of nurseries, centers, and departments inside and outside SCHS after preparing transition plans in collaboration with families.  The center is going to coordinate a follow-up plan with parents to grant a successful transition.

He pointed out the importance of social awareness in order to proclaim the rights of persons with disabilities such as education and training like non-disabled peers.  This will result in integrating them into society according to the best practices worldwide.

Mr. Faouzi has pointed out that the services provided by the leading center in the gulf region since its establishment in 1994 included 3,200 children. They are appropriate and urgent interventions in education, precaution, and therapy taken at an early age. Therefore, parents must realize the importance of early diagnosis and intervention. They should always cooperate with the center to achieve the best results.

For her part, Mrs. Halima Ali, the Chairperson of Early Intervention Center Mothers Council, congratulated graduates and their families.  She directed her sincerest thanks to all the workers in the center after praising their constant cooperation and hard work to achieve the best results with children with disabilities.

She said, “It is necessary for parents of children with disabilities to realize the importance of early intervention and the speed in which children with disabilities must receive appropriate services.  In addition, parents have great role after cooperating with specialists”.  Then, she invited the mothers who are not members in Mothers Council to join the council in order to activate their role properly.
