SCHS RELEASES THE 333 ISSUE OF AL MANAL E-MAGAZINE

The 333 issue of Al Manal E-Magazine for November 2018, which is part of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) publications, released.  Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Vice President of Supreme Council for Family Affairs & Director General of SCHS, is the chief editor. The publication aims at educating the Arab family, providing it with information, theoretical, and applied knowledge as well as training programs and raising their health awareness.  It provides consultation, researches, and anything related to bringing up children and social development.  It highlights the issues of women, children, and persons with disabilities and their parents as well as the regulations concerning their lives.

In “Researches” section, we can read an important research entitled (REAL Scale: A tool that can be used to evaluate Arabic language skills in children having Autism Spectrum Disorder) by Prof. Dr. Dalia Mostafa Osman.  We can also read eight tips to overcome aggressive behavior in children with autism disorder by specialist Mohamed Walid Abdel-Hassib Al-Shamali.

In the same section, we read an article about the importance of predicting the future by Mrs. Khadija Ahmed Bamakhramah.  Sharjah Foundation for Social Empowerment prepared a study about the first year in the lives of women who lost their husbands and the journey of facing the social and financial challenges.  The Editorial Board prepared a material about ATAXIA, which is a degenerative disease of the nervous system.

In “Assistive Technology” section, we read about the initiatives of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services within Sharjah Government Platform, which is participating in GITEX 2018, in order to introduce the public to the services and assistive technologies offered to persons with disabilities, which promote greater independence.  We also learn about the smart technology used to guide persons with visual impairment in Dubai Metro.

Our journey in the 333 issue of Al Manal E-Magazine continues in “Culture and Literature” section, where we read a review for (Wonder) movie by Hazem Dahi Shahada.  Dr. Ghassan Shahrour has written an article entitled (Read, you are in Sharjah.  The nation of the verse ‘Read’ does not read).  The Editorial Board prepared a detailed material about Sheikha Boodour Al Qasimi being the first Arab woman to hold the position of Vice President of International Publishers Association.

In the same section, we read an interview conducted by the disability activist Ria Al-Jader with Shad Al-Shammri, who is the first Arab writer to author a biography in English language about a person with disability.  In addition, we read an article in which Jonathan Tchen confirms that art exists everywhere.  Mr. Hashim Katae Lazim translated the article into Arabic.

“Activities and Events” section for this issue included a variety of news such as choosing Al Amal School for the Deaf as a showcase school by Microsoft Corporation.  We also learn about Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services Marathon, in which students with disabilities and graduates marched from Sharjah Cultural Palace to SCHS premises at Al Yarmouk area. They wanted to express their love and loyalty to SCHS, which has been striving to include, advocate, empower, educate, and integrate persons with disabilities into society according to the best practices worldwide.

Another event that we can read about in this section is the fifth edition of the Arab Civil Society Forum for Children, which took place in the Arab Republic of Egypt to address the theme of upbringing children in a changing world.  Dr. Suheir Abdel Hafeez Omar prepared this material for Al Manal.

In addition, we read about Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services delegation return from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan after spending four days.  The delegation discussed means of consolidating the relationships of cooperation with regional countries in order to advance the level of services, which SCHS offers to persons with disabilities according to the best practices worldwide.  We read also about the Integration Unit of SCHS, which organized a program during September 2018 to follow up 15 students with disabilities, who the unit integrated into a number of public and private schools and nurseries last year, in addition to many other important events.

In “Social Issues” section, we read about the validation of national policy for senior citizens in United Arab Emirates. The Director of Editorial Board Mr. Osama Nadeem Mardini has written a material about celebrating senior citizens who were champions of human rights in International Day of Older Persons.  Dr. Abdul Muttalib El-Seih has written about the effects of separation on children.

In “Life” section, we read a report by ASDAA Association in the Arab Republic of Egypt about the appointment of persons who are deaf or hard of hearing with Robotics Creativity in Thailand

In “Opinion” section, Mr. Abdullah Al-Hamlawi has written an article entitled (It is the time to declare to the world that we are here) on World Cerebral Palsy Day, which is recognized in October 6, every year.  Mr. Mazen Ahmed Quqas translated a touching letter directed from a mother to her son entitled (Your baby has Down syndrome
