RENEWAL OF THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN SCHS BRANCH IN THE CENTRAL REGION AND AL DHAID CULTURAL AND SPORTS CLUB
On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, Ms. Mona Abdul Karim Al Yafei, Director of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), and His Excellency Salem Mohammed bin Hoyden, Chairman of the Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, signed the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding between SCHS branch in the Central Region and the club. It aims at providing advanced services to people with disabilities and achieving fruitful and organized cooperation between the two parties to develop sports services, activities and community events.
According to the memorandum, the two parties are obligated to support joint media campaigns through social media and official channels and encourage their employees to embrace volunteerism and community participation in the activities and events organized by the two sides. In addition to cooperation in implementing the sports integration program through the participation of SCHS students with disabilities with club players in unified sports within the Special Olympics in light of the capabilities available to both parties.
His Excellency Salem Mohammed bin Hoyden, Chairman of the Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, has confirmed that cooperating with SCHS, which have a long history full of achievements in empowering persons with disabilities, is a great gain for the club.
He said, “The joint work between the SCHS and the club has been continuing since 2013. It contributes to providing the best services to the students of SCHS and developing their talents and sports and social capabilities in accordance with the best international practices. The Corona pandemic did not prevent the continuity of this cooperation. A delegation from the club visited SCHS branch in Al Dhaid while taking all precautionary measures. The delegation distributed an integrated sports bag to all branch employees”.
He explained that SCHS’s keenness to educate and train persons with disabilities is consistent with its leadership in this field. He stressed the great role it has in educating the community’s members and inviting them to talk about disability and consolidate the principles of social responsibility in all fields.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors indicated that the club is always ready to receive SCHS’s students in various sporting activities in coordination with SCHS and to allow the use of the club’s facilities for people with disabilities, and to ensure the process of social integration.
Ms. Mona Abdel Karim praised the existing cooperation between the two sides and the great progress accomplished since its inception until now. She hopes for more that will contribute to the development of sports, entertainment and social services for people with disabilities. She said, “In the future, the field of cooperation between the two sides would witness the formation of an integrated sports team including players with hearing impairment and non-disabled. Cooperation would not be limited to sports only, but would also include accessibility and community awareness that will optimally integrate persons with disabilities and contribute to improving their quality of life in line with international best practices”.
Within the framework of the memorandum, SCHS (Dhaid branch) commits to providing awareness programs for the employees of the club on ways to deal with people with disabilities through the annual activities and events that it organizes with the provision of screening and early detection services for the club’s children and employees after prior coordination. In addition to educating club employees about the necessary guidance in the occupational and psychological health of people with disabilities.
According to the memorandum, the two parties shall organize an annual forum on disability that includes all specialties in the club building. SCHS shall provide the necessary advice in preparing the spatial configuration of buildings to be suitable for people with disabilities, in terms of accessibility in cooperation with the work team of its Assistive Technology Center.
According to the memorandum, the club commits to supporting the social integration of people with disabilities by involving students in sports and cultural activities and social programs. The club shall cooperate in training students in various sports and allowing them to use club’s facilities in the evening to train in the games available to them in case the service is available and in a manner that does not conflict with the activities of the second party.
In conclusion, Ms. Mona Abdel Karim thanked and appreciated His Excellency Salem Mohammed bin Hoyden, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, and all those in charge of this distinguished sports edifice. She hoped for more cooperation and success.
