On Tuesday, May 14, 2019, Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Ruler's Bureau, attended the special ceremony, which Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) organized to honor its partners.  The ceremony took place at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre.


The student Yazan Basil opened the ceremony by delivering a speech in which he directed his sincerest thanks to SCHS sponsors and partners.  He pointed out that their support all these years enabled Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services from continuing to offer its services and programs to so many students in many educational levels.  This contributed to their ability to develop their talents and capabilities, which led to their empowerment and integration into society.


Then, the audience watched an act entitled (Forty years of social partnership) that talked about SCHS efforts during the last four decades, and the services it has been offering since its establishment.  In addition, the act showed some statistics about SCHS graduates as well as upcoming projects, which are very ambitious and seek to serve persons with disabilities.


For her part, Mrs. Mona Abdel Karim, Director of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, delivered a speech in which she thanked the Chairman of the Ruler's Bureau for attending the honoring ceremony.  She also transferred the congratulations of Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of SCHS, on the holy month of Ramadan to audience.

She talked about SCHS work during the last 40 years.  Established in 1979, SCHS was first institution for people with disabilities in the United Arab Emirates to provide a range of services in accordance with the highest international practices.  She pointed out SCHS leading role in including and empowering persons with disabilities, focusing on the role of families, and making efforts to develop the skills and capabilities of its employees and workers.  This has resulted in benefiting more than 2132 persons with disabilities from SCHS services.  SCHS was able to employ 381 graduates in public positions with equal rights with the support of its partners and other institutions.


Mrs. Mona mentioned a number of SCHS students’ accomplishments such as making food products in SCHS Branch in Khorfakhan, including "Danat Sweets" and "Sweets Rowa" shops.  Masarat Centre for Development and Empowerment is producing these products.  She also announced the establishment of new sewing workshop, which aims at developing students capabilities to work.


In her speech, the Director of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services talked about SCHS new premises, which is going to cost 500 Million Dirhams.  The new building represents a unique shift in the field of offering services to the largest number of persons with disabilities according to international standards.


To conclude her speech, Mrs. Mona directed her sincerest thanks to all SCHS partners and associates including individuals and institutions.


Then, the audience watched a short film about SCHS new sewing workshop.  The film has shown students train on various kinds of sewing skills in order to make the most beautiful outfits of their own designs and production.


At the end of the ceremony, Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi Chairman of the Ruler's Bureau, honored Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services partners from governmental and private bodies, institutions, public associations and a number of persons.


Furthermore, Mrs. Mona Abdel Karim presented a souvenir from Sharjah City for Humanitarian Service to Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi.


HE Shaikh Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, H.H Advisor Sultan Ali Bin Butti Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the Advisory Council, and HE Thabit Salem Al Tarifi, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, attended the honoring ceremony. A number of officials, representatives of SCHS sponsoring bodies, and partners were present as well.
