SCHS HAS FRUITFUL CONTRIBUTION TO (SIGHT ME) EXHIBIT

Feb 12, 2020

Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) is taking part in the fourth edition of the visual disability technologies exhibition (Sight Me) Middle East at Expo Centre Sharjah with its own pavilion.  SCHS aims at introducing its services and assistive technologies to persons with disabilities in general and persons with visual impairment in particular.

The importance of this participation lies in introducing the public to the latest inventions and technologies in this field as well as showing the experience of SCHS and the services offered to persons with visual impairment to different institutes and companies.

This year, SCHS pavilion is displaying the indoor voice orientation system, which is a mobile application that helps people with visual impairment know the details of the place.  It is connected to sensors distributed inside pre-determined places such as the bathroom or the bedroom. Once the user has reached these specific places, the application will send an audio message to him describing the place in detail and directing the user.

In addition, the pavilion shows (Insight) application, which displays the readable content for blind people in an audible manner.

SCHS pavilion introduces visitors to the most important services, which SCHS offers to people with visual impairment such as evaluation, training, and follow-up services with students who SCHS integrated into schools.

Notably, SCHS established Assistive Technology Center in March 2014 to emphasize persons with disabilities right to an accessible educational environment that enables them to keep abreast of technological development and benefit from all that is new in the field of Assistive Technologies.
