SCHS ORGANIZES A WELCOMING CEREMONY AT SHARJAH CULTURAL PALACE

More than 400, out of 605 employees, working for Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) responded to the Senior Management invitation on Thursday, August 29, 2019, to attend the welcoming ceremony held at Sharjah Cultural Palace.  Mrs. Mona Abdel Karim, Director of SCHS, talked to the crowd and gave an opportunity for SCHS heads of departments, sections, and schools to talk about their main accomplishments in the previous academic year and their plans for the new academic year, which will begin next week.  SCHS finished its preparations and arranged to receive students with disabilities and their parents in the first day of school.

In the beginning of the ceremony, which a number of SCHS officials and administrators attended, Mrs. Mona Abdel Karim, Director of SCHS, welcomed guests including new employees, who were about to learn about SCHS mission, objectives, values, and regulations.  After congratulating everyone on the new academic year and transferring the warm greetings of Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi to all, she wished everyone more success.

She said, “We, at Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, appreciate the collaborative work greatly.  We believe in the power and solidarity of teamwork in reaching perspective objectives and implementing plans.  Today’s meeting in which we invited all the workers and employees in SCHS in the last days as we are about to receive students and their parents in the first day of school. SCHS heads of departments, sections, and schools talked to old and new employees about their departments sections, and schools’ accomplishments during the entire previous academic year and their plans for the new academic year.

The director of SCHS was very proud and appreciative to all the workers who managed to do their best during an entire academic year following the wise instructions of Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of SCHS.

After her opening statement, Mrs. Mona Abdel Karim introduced employees to SCHS mission, vision, and message since its establishment in 1979.  Then, she mentioned some statistics about SCHS.  She said that 605 employees including 50 with disabilities present services to 2339 students with physical, hearing, and mental disabilities.  Approximately 1062 students benefits from classes and family consultation services.  Approximately 1277 irregular students benefit from day and night school.  More than 917 are Emeriti citizens, while 1422 are residents.

Then, she talked about SCHS main accomplishments in the previous academic year.  She mentioned that 6796 children were included in the screening campaign, which SCHS organized for children in nurseries and schools.  SCHS integrated 478 students into public and private schools.  In addition, SCHS was able to find jobs for 381 persons with different types of disabilities in public and private sectors.

In terms of education, SCHS graduated 84 students from high school.  Some of them joined higher education.  Some others have already finished college and currently are working in decent jobs.

In addition, Mrs. Mona mentioned the main activities and informative campaigns organized by SCHS as well as the main agreements made with local, regional, and international bodies.  These partnerships and agreements serve SCHS efforts to develop and improve its work.  She also talked about the accomplishments’ of Planning and Follow-Up Department, Masarat Centre, Social Work Department, and Arts for All Centre.  She also mentioned the main recommendations and instructions that employees should follow in order to work smoothly with persons with disabilities and their families.

Finally, the director of SCHS gave the opportunity to SCHS heads of departments, sections, and schools to talk about their main accomplishments, plans, and programs for the new academic year.  Osama Nadeem Mardini talked about Corporate Communication Department. Safeya Mohammed Al Marzouq talked about IT Department. Jihad Abdul Qader talked about Financial Resources and Investment Development Department.  Mohammed Fawzi talked about Early Intervention Center. Abdul Nasser Darwish talked about Al Wafa School for Capacity Development. Siham Adel Al Humaimat talked about Sharjah Autism Center. Afaf Ali Al-Haridi talked about Al-Amal School for the Deaf. Mona Abdullah Karam talked about SCHS Branch in Khorfakhan. Asmaa Mohammed Al-Darmaki talked about SCHS Branch in Kallba. Abdul Moneim Mohammed Al-Duwairi talked about SCHS Branch in Al Dhaid. Marwa Abdul Fattah Madi talked about Sharjah Center for Hearing Aids. Freez Mahmoud Abu Sreis talked about Physical and Occupational Therapy Department. Rabab Ibrahim Ahmed Abdel Wahab talked about Assistive Technology Center. Duaa Mohammed Al-Dridi talked about SCHS Integration Unit. Heba Eassa Al Humrani talked about Administrative and Financial Affairs Department.  Adel Al-Awadhi talked about Human Resources and introduced Mr. Saleh Al-Haj Mohammed from Galaxy Company International, which talked about a new program and system of human resources that SCHS is incorporating to meet the electronic needs of its employees.
