SCHS RELEASES THE 347 ISSUE OF AL MANAL E-MAGAZINE

The 347 issue of Al Manal E-Magazine for February 2020, which is part of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) publications, released.  Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of SCHS, is the chief editor. The publication aims at educating the Arab family, providing it with information, theoretical, and applied knowledge as well as training programs and raising their health awareness.

In “Research and Studies” section, we read about children’s Literature and Disability from a critical perspective, by Dr. Sabah Abdul Karim Issawi.  Al-Manal Editor-in-Chief, Osama Mardini translated a study entitled (Children Mortality Declines, Numbers of People with Disabilities Increases).  Marwa Madi tells us when loud sounds are too loud.  Shaza Shihri writes about the phonological awareness and its relationship to reading difficulties in the early stages.  In addition, Dr. Lotfi Abdel Aziz El-Sherbiny gives us a full idea of panic attack, its definition, causes and treatment.

In “Assistive Technology” section, we read a material translated by the Neil Taher about persons with disabilities involvement in designing assistive technologies.  We read also about SCHS students’ preparations to participate in the National Robotics Competition.

In “Culture and Literature” section, we read by Sisley Anderson about arts and antiquities appreciation, which has become available to blind and visually impaired people.  As for Mr. Hisham Kattami, he provides us with two articles on telepathy, mental communication, and interpersonal communication skills at work.  By Fadi Muhammad Al-Dahdouh, we read about the spring of mothers ... the legacy of love and the field of joy.  We read by Gerereja Jayasanker and Hashem Kattami’s translation a material about the features of environmental criticism.

Al Manal Main Character for this issue is Dr. Jihad Ibrahim, who had a dialogue with Ahmed Amer Abdullah, who described her as the source of hope under the dome of the Egyptian Parliament.  In this section, we read also an interview with the Paralympic champion John Register, conducted by Hazem Dahi Shehadeh.

Al Manal “Activities and Events” section is full of news as usual.  The UAE Cabinet adopts a policy to protect people of determination from abuse.  SCHS organizes two training courses for its staff and teachers.   SCHS honors participants in the training course to develop the skills of the teachers of the deaf.  American Paralympic champion John Register praises SCHS.  SCHS organizes the training course “Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis”.  Dean of the College of Arts and Applied Sciences at Dhofar University in the Sultanate of Oman praises Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services. Ammar Dahib Hassan Dahib graduated from the University of Sharjah as the first engineer with hearing impairment in the United Arab Emirates.  The Patient Friends Charitable House in Sharjah donated 500,000 Dirhams and 50 tablets to Sanabel Al-Mahaba Festival.  

In “Social Issues” section, we read about university graduates and the needs of the country. The Researcher Maggie Siddiqui writes about promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society.  We also read by Fahim Sultan Al-Qudsi about freeing the environment from obstacles to increase accessibility. Ahmed Mamdouh writes a material entitled (Your Voice Makes me Happy initiative).  We read about the (Umm Ayman) Mosque in Muwailih, the first mosque to receive a certificate of the International Handicapped Federation for places eligible for people with disabilities in the Middle East.

“From Life” section includes a report by Walid Mahmoud Nazzal about the (The Big Heart) School, the first secondary school for the deaf in Palestine, with great support from the Grand Heart Foundation in Sharjah headed by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.  We also read an interview with Mai Abdullah Al-Raisi, a social worker at Al-Wafa School for Capacity Development (Yarmouk Branch).

In “Opinion” section, Fadi Muhammad Al-Dahdouh begins with a material about educational games as a fertile environment for developing child-learning skills.  Dr. Nadia Mohamed Ratib, writes about sympathy for the self.  Hamad Abdul Aziz Al-Hamid introduces us to the initiative to teach the Arabic language for the deaf and hard of hearing.  By Dr. Fayez Shalati, we read about treating learning disabilities.  This issue concludes with Dr. Aman Al-Ghubrah who has an important question. (Is punishment necessary in raising a child?).
