"SHARJAH CHAMBER" CONCLUDES A SPONSORSHIP CONTRACT WITH SCHS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry concluded a sponsorship contract with the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS). The Chamber aims to develop areas of communication and means of cooperation and partnership between the two parties. This would support and enhance the quality of life of persons with disabilities who are affiliated members of SCHS. In addition, it will provide a distinguished level of services in accordance with modern international best practices.

The two sides signed the agreement on Tuesday, at the Chamber’s headquarters, between His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Her Excellency Mona Abdul Karim Al, Director of SCHS. His Excellency Muhammad Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, Director General of the Sharjah Chamber, Heba Issa Khalifa Al Hamrani, Director of Affairs Department Administrative and Financial Affairs in the SCHS, and Abdulaziz Shattaf, Assistant General Manager of the Communication and Business Sector in the Chamber were present.

The sponsorship contract includes strengthening the existing relationship between the two parties and strengthening the partnership to support the rehabilitation process. This process is very important and has great role in empowering people with disabilities and achieving their independence, through rehabilitation and employment to be participating and independent in their communities. It also encourages employees of both sides to do volunteering work and community participation in organized activities and events at SCHS.

Promote the values of social responsibility

His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais welcomed Sharjah Chamber's signing of this agreement. It comes within the framework of the Chamber's strategy of promoting the values of social responsibility through the many programs and initiatives it launched. Especially, as the Chamber works to support people with disabilities and enhance their quality of life, empower and integrate them into society. The Chamber does this in a way that contributes to enriching the initiatives and qualitative efforts achieved by the Emirate of Sharjah with the valuable support. All the credit goes to the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who gives people with disabilities prominent attention and work on activating the participation of this important group of society, integrating them and granting them their full rights. We can this in many important achievements at the local and international levels.

Al Owais pointed out that the cooperation between the Sharjah Chamber and SCHS is not new. There were many programs and initiatives that the Chamber was keen to sponsor and provide all forms of support for, perhaps the latest of which is the strategic sponsorship of the activities of the first employment fair for persons with disabilities. This depended on the Chamber's keenness to adopt and sponsor initiatives that support this important segment of our society, empower them in the environment around them, and help them contribute effectively to the development process.

Quality Services

For her part, Her Excellency Mona Abdul Karim appreciated the efforts of the Sharjah Chamber and its prompt response in signing the sponsorship contract. She stressed that this agreement will contribute to consolidating cooperation between the two sides to provide quality services for people with disabilities. She also noted that the existing cooperation between SCHS and the Chamber has led to many results. The Chamber achieved kindness thanks to sincerity and the consideration of the interest of society as a priority. It is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah. During these years of fruitful cooperation, the Sharjah Chamber was keen to continue supporting the programs and activities that SCHS offers to its students with disabilities and their parents.

Mona noted the Chamber's support for many activities of Al-Amal School for the Deaf. For example, the Chamber hosted conferences or competitions organized by SCHS, such as the AT EDUCOM Design Competition, in addition to the sponsorship contract that was signed on Tuesday in order to achieve the common vision and convergence of the will of the two parties. She noted that the high global status, which SCHS has reached, was due to community, individuals, and institutions support. In addition, the support of the Sharjah Chamber for the services provided by SCHS is an integral part of this successful community system.

The terms of the agreement included providing support for assistive services, devices and technologies, financing services and educational programs provided to students affiliated with SCHS. In addition to providing a training course on the use of sign language for the Chamber’s employees, and informative lectures on ways to deal with people with disabilities. In addition, SCHS will provide the necessary consultations on preparing the spatial configuration of buildings to be suitable for people with disabilities in terms of accessibility, in cooperation with the Assistive Technology Center team.
