Dec 7, 2020

On Sunday, December 6, 2020, the activities of the art gallery (UAE Salam) Peace organized by the Art for All Center (Falaj) of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, in cooperation with Artista Gallery from 1 to 6 December 2020 in the Dubai Design District (Building 06), concluded.  Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) has organized this gallery to mark UAE 49 National Day and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

More than 30 paintings created by persons with disabilities have decorated the entire gallery, along with paintings by non-disabled artists. It won the admiration of the audience, who flocked to the exhibition throughout its days, especially since the main theme of the paintings spoke about the idea of peace and its noble and sublime contents.

Lamia Manhal, the famous artist and founder of Gallery Artista, was very happy with the cooperation with artists with disabilities and their participation that influenced the gallery. She confirmed their ability to create fine pieces of art.

She said, “The talents of persons with disabilities are not limited to art, but encompass all areas of life.  The community is responsible for supporting and providing appropriate conditions for persons with disabilities to innovate and show their talents. In addition, the community must work to integrate them and organize art events in which they could participate”.

She explained that the exhibition period was more than enough to form true friendships with artists with disabilities. She mentioned, for example, the artist (Moza Abdullah), who paints with her foot in a wonderful way, using the appropriate colors in her paintings. The artist (Ammar Dahab) is the first deaf person to graduate from the University of Sharjah as an architect. However, he was ambitious. Therefore, he dedicated part of his time to arts.

The artist praised the fruitful cooperation with the Art for All Center (Falaj).  She has confirmed that the doors of Artista Gallery will always be open for artists with disabilities to present their paintings and participate in joint art galleries.

The artist Nada Al-Hashemi participated in the gallery with two paintings.  She stressed that the artistic level of the paintings of persons with disabilities deserves respect, appreciation and encouragement.  She is willing to cooperate with the Art for All Center and contribute to voluntary artistic workshops to support the talents of its members.

The artist Nada sent a message to all members of society, urging them to support people with disabilities, develop their skills and talents to make use of their time in the best possible way.

Artist Dr. Qais Salman Abboud’s participation was not limited to distinguished paintings, but he used to present every day a musical piece accompanying the exhibition.  He has confirmed that it is not the first time that he participates in joint galleries with persons with disabilities. He will participate in the future in similar galleries whenever there is an opportunity to do that.

Mr. Muhammad Bakr, the Supervisor of the Art for All Center (Falaj), has confirmed that the center, which SCHS established on March 2, 2017, currently provides services to 48 talented and creative people with disabilities in the fields of painting, acting and music of various nationalities. He said, “Since its inception until now, more than 830 persons with disabilities have benefited from the services, lectures and workshops of the center.  The center also participated in many art competitions and exhibitions inside and outside the country". He praised the fruitful cooperation between (Falaj), the Sharjah Art Foundation and various centers for persons with disabilities in the country.

To conclude, he directed his sincerest thanks to the artist, Lamia Manhal, appreciating her cooperation and kind initiative in opening the doors of her gallery to the center's members with disabilities. He pointed out center's keenness to provide its services for those without disabilities wishing to learn from technical programs and workshops in various fields and throughout the year.
