Under the theme "Let's go together in an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment," the Sharjah Autism Center of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) and SCHS's Kallba branch are planning winter camp activities from December 11 to December 21. The purpose of the event is to provide persons with disabilities with entertainment during the middle of the school year and to help them integrate into society through workshops, competitions, outings, and pleasurable activities.

The Sharjah Autism Center's director, Dr. Siham Al-Humaimat, has emphasized how crucial the camp is to occupy the participants' free time with anything productive and advantageous. In addition, it provides an opportunity to directly engage with individuals with autism spectrum condition, considering their preferences and abilities while boosting their self-esteem.

She added, “In addition to bringing in volunteers and inspiring them to work with individuals with disabilities, the camp seeks to provide a change of pace and enjoyment through a variety of activities, support the social integration of students with disabilities, and encourage peer-to-peer activities.”.

She detailed the various courses offered at the camp, which include "robot," "photography," "pottery," "competitions," "assembly line," "sensory activities," and "works of art," in addition to a variety of cultural events and unique outings.

The Director of the Sharjah Autism Center confirmed that SCHS attaches great importance to the comfort of people with disabilities and their guardians and to providing support and assistance to them in various fields.

It should be noted that SCHS was the first to introduce a specialized service for people with autism spectrum disorder in the United Arab Emirates in the academic year 1994-1995 by establishing a department attached to the Institute for Intellectual Development (formerly), (currently Al Wafa School for Capacity Development). In February 2002, the Sharjah Autism Center was established and opened as the first specialized Emirati center that provides specialized educational and therapeutic services suitable for students with autism spectrum disorder and their families.
