SCHS, Higher Colleges of Technology in Sharjah, and Al Futtaim Group Organized

 On Friday, November 17, 2023, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), the Higher Colleges of Technology in Sharjah, and Al-Futtaim Group organized the “Festival of Inclusion and Determination”. Dubai Festival City Mall hosted the event. Several SCHS students, male and female students from the Higher Colleges of Technology in Sharjah, and the public participated. This day coincided with two important occasions. The first is International Children’s Day and Tolerance Day, which confirms the importance of inclusivity and empowerment in society.

The festival's activities included SCHS's Al Amal School for the Deaf participating in awareness-raising activities on the basics of sign language. SCHS's Sharjah Autism Center organized a drawing workshop with children and an exhibition of their artwork. The SCHS's Masarat Center for Development and Empowerment displayed products made by people with disabilities. The center also presented a coloring workshop on... Pottery. The event witnessed the attendance of many visitors from different age groups to participate in the workshops provided.

Ms. Maimunah Hussein, a Social Worker at SCHS, said that the aim of the event is to strengthen community partnerships with various entities, and highlight the capabilities of people with disabilities integrating and empowering them into society, enhancing their economic independence, raising community awareness of various disabilities, and displaying products made by people with disabilities.

She spoke about the importance of developing and strengthening cooperation with various institutions and agencies in accordance with international best practices regarding the integration of people with disabilities into society. In turn, he thanked the Higher Colleges of Technology in Sharjah and Al-Futtaim Group for organizing the festival.

Professor Nawal Abdel Majeed, a lecturer in the Department of Social Service at the Higher Colleges of Technology in Sharjah, confirmed that she is proud to see the third-year female students within the Social Service Program at the Higher Colleges of Technology working hard, sincerely, and with dedication to support people with disabilities in an informative campaign in cooperation with the SCHS and Al Futtaim Group.

She added, “We work to empower people with disabilities through various activities that are carefully prepared to integrate this group into society in a day full of awareness-raising activities. She expressed everyone's happiness with the cooperation with SCHS and Al-Futtaim Group, and looked forward to joint work in the future in more events that serve the community.
