Al-Wafa School for Capacity Development celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Dec 7, 2023

Under the slogan 'United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities.' and from 3 to 12 December 2023, Al Wafa School for Capacity Development, which is an affiliate of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The school organized a group of events, lectures, and activities to mark this day. It targets families of people with disabilities, students with disabilities, workers in the field of special education, and the entire community.

Dr. Samia Mohamed Saleh, Director of Al-Wafa School for Capacity Development, has confirmed that the focus of this year’s celebration will revolve around the sustainable development goals. SCHS will focus and work to ensure the implementation of the goal of good education, good health, and well-being, reducing inequalities and convening companies to achieve the goals.

Saleh spoke about ensuring that adequate financial resources are allocated to integrate people with disabilities. Thus, development must be a priority moving forward. It is necessary for people with disabilities around the world to participate in these programs and activities and contribute to organizing them, noting that people with disabilities are the most vulnerable affected by conflicts. Priorities in conflict situations are rarely taken seriously, stressing that the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals serve as a basic roadmap for action.
