May 6, 2019

Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Vice President of Supreme Council for Family Affairs & Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), praised parents of persons with disabilities’ role in educating, empowering, including, and advocating their children. They also make efforts to raise people’s awareness of disability issues in order to improve the services offered to persons with disabilities according to the best practices worldwide.

Her Highness Sheikha Jameela said, “We have been always confirming the importance of cooperating with parents in every matter that relates to persons with disabilities.  We want to represent them perfectly in every area of life.  We are planning to make them happy by the services we provide in collaboration with families, society members, and institutions”.

Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi gave this statement during the honoring of students with disabilities who appeared on Zakat campaign posters in 2017 and in 2018 in the presence of their parents and Mrs. Mona Abdel Karim, Director of SCHS.  These students are Naveed Abu Zarifa, Abdul Rahman Mohsen Ali, Salem Talib Sulaiman, Mohammed Abdul Rahman Othman, and Adari Obeid Ali.

The director of SCHS has pointed out that parents care and respect for their disabled children represents a perfect example on the proper way to deal with those persons as individuals with rights and duties.  This takes into account each individual’s capabilities.  This understanding contributes to the full integration of persons with disabilities in every area of life.

Mohammed Abdul Rahman directed his sincerest thanks on behalf of his colleagues to Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi for her decent gesture.  He believes that his and his friends’ success in education, training, and integration into society is due to the unlimited support of Her Highness Sheikha Jameela.

For their part, parents were very proud of their children with disabilities who appeared in Zakat campaign posters, which contribute to raising people’s awareness of the importance of supporting SCHS services to educate and train them.

They directed their sincerest thanks to Her Highness Sheikha Jameela for her unlimited support to persons with disabilities.  They asked individuals and institutes to have a sense of social responsibility and contribute to advocating, educating, and integrating persons with disabilities into society.
