A NOBLE GESTURE BY MOHAMMED TARIM WHO DONATED HIS BOOK AWARD TO SCHS
On Monday, November 5, 2018, Doctor and Writer Mohammed Omran Tarim, a Member of the Emirates Association for Human Rights, donated his Award for the Best Published Book in UAE, which he received from Sharjah Book Authority for his book (The Historical Roots of United Arab Emirates Establishment) to Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS). It is a gesture reflecting great sense of social responsibility. Dr. Mohammed donated the 25,000 dirhams award to support the services, which SCHS offers to persons with disabilities.
Dr. Mohammed has confirmed that he donated the money of the award in order to follow the steps and vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who is the main supporter for persons with disabilities.
He said, “Everyone knows that Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services is a leading organization in including, advocating, and empowering persons with disabilities by incorporating the latest trends in the field of disability”.
Dr. Mohammed believes that showing a great sense of social responsibility towards persons with disabilities is an obligation for individuals and institutions. They must collaborate their efforts in order to improve persons with disabilities chances of education and training.
“Today’s donation is just a small contribution to support SCHS mission, which stresses the role of social responsibility in community advancement,” said Dr. Mohammed. He confirmed that SCHS long journey in serving persons with disabilities, which began in 1979, has made SCHS a prestigious institute with great experience in offering the best services to persons with disabilities according to the best practices worldwide.
Dr. Mohammed has praised the continued efforts of SCHS to raise people’s awareness of the importance of integrating persons with disabilities into society in a way that preserves their dignity and respect.
For her part, Mrs. Mona Abdel Karim, Director of SCHS, directed her sincerest thanks to Dr. Mohammed for his generosity, which reflects a deep understanding of the concept of social responsibility.
Mrs. Mona has pointed out that this is not the first donation for Dr. Mohammed, who wants to support SCHS with all his power. She asked members of society and institutions to follow his lead in supporting SCHS continued efforts to educate and empower persons with disabilities in every area of life
