SCHS INTEGRATES 15 STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES INTO A NUMBER OF SCHOOLS AND NURSERIES

The Integration Unit of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) has organized a program during September 2018 to follow up 15 students with disabilities, who the unit integrated into a number of public and private schools and nurseries last year. 

The General Supervisor of SCHS Integration Unit Ms. Duaa Mohammed Al-Duraibi has confirmed SCHS efforts to follow up integrated students and coordinate with parents and schools in order to meet their needs according to the best practices worldwide 

She said, “The unit is also responsible for facing the challenges, which integrated students face such as the lack of qualified cadres, the curriculum, and the negative attitudes of peers and parents towards persons with disabilities”. 

To face these challenges, SCHS Integration Unit seeks to consolidate the relationships of cooperation with a variety of related institutions and bodies.  It also works to present a group of workshops and informative conferences in collaboration with partners.

Al-Duraibi has pointed out that the unit prepares students with disabilities from SCHS various sections and centers who are candidates’ for integration before one year of the process in order to have a better chance for success.

She pointed out that Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, since its inception, works to make huge steps in relation to integrating persons with disabilities by following the best practices worldwide.  SCHS strives to enhance and consolidate the relationships of cooperation with local, regional, and international institutions and bodies to achieve the best results in integration. 

She has confirmed SCHS’s care to stay tuned with the latest updates and trends in the field of integration in order to offer better services on the hands of professional specialists who are capable of dealing with persons with disabilities properly.

To conclude, Al-Duraibi mentioned that SCHS would continue its efforts to integrate persons with disabilities, reach out to community members, and raise people’s awareness on the proper way to deal with persons with disabilities based on respect, appreciation, and understanding of their rights.
