SCHS KALLBA BRANCH ORGANIZES THE FIRST WINTER CAMP IN THE EASTERN COAST
Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) Branch in Kallba city is organizing Winter Camp, which is the first of its kind in the eastern coast, for persons with disabilities and their families under the theme “Enjoying Winter” from December 15 to 29, 2019.
Acting Director of Kallba branch, Dr. Asmaa Mohamed Al Darmaki, said that the aim of the camp is to invest students' free time during the first semester vacation and integrate them with their non-disabled peers. In addition, the camp will support their independence and entertain them and their families through a variety of rich activities and excursions.
Al Darmaki has pointed out that more than 25 children with disabilities are participating in the camp, which includes many sports activities and artistic workshops. Furthermore, participants are going to visit Sharjah Ladies Club in Kallba to spend a whole day of fun.
On Wednesday, participants and their families are going to spend an entire day at the Oceanic Hotel and Resort in Khorfakhan city to spend a nice time. Therefore, Al Darmaki directed her sincerest thanks to all the institutions and bodies supporting the camp, including Hotel’s management, Sharjah Ladies Club in Kallba, and the Municipality of Kallba.
Al Darmaki has confirmed that the number of students with disabilities registered in Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services Branch in Kallba has reached this year 82 of various disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, etc. Moreover, they receive specialized services for each disability.
She said, “The general objectives of the branch corresponds totally with SCHS strategic goals as being a leading institute in advocating, including, and empowering persons with disabilities after collaborating efforts with local and international partners to offer the best services according to the best international practices”.
Notably, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, ordered the establishment of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services Branch in Kallba in 2006.
