SCHS ORGANIZES THE CLOSING CEREMONY FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2018 – 2019

Her Excellency Sheikha Aisha bint Mohammed Al Qasimi was very proud of the outstanding performance students with disabilities, when they performed on Sharjah Cultural Palace stage during the closing ceremony of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) activities for the academic year 2018 – 2019. The act is called (From heart to heart).

She said, “It is not surprising anymore to see persons with disabilities prove themselves worthy of appreciation in every area of life.  Persons with disabilities have a lot of talents and potentials, which is not something temporary; it is rather a solid continuous thing that everyone should support”.

She praised the vital role of SCHS in educating, including, empowering, and advocating persons with disabilities according to the best practices worldwide.

Her Excellency Sheikha Aisha bint Mohammed Al Qasimi believes that this noticeable improvement in students’ performance year after year confirms that SCHS is serious about developing their capabilities on the hands of the best specialists in this field.  SCHS also seeks to consolidate the relationships of cooperation with individuals and institutes in local, regional, and international levels.

She has pointed out that these good results were reached due to the wise commandments of Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Vice President of Supreme Council for Family Affairs & Director General of SCHS, who always supports persons with disabilities.

Her Excellency Sheikha Aisha Al Qasimi talked about the importance of social responsibility concept in supporting persons with disabilities.  She has confirmed that society members must contribute to the process of planting such concepts in the minds of people, raise their awareness of disability issues, and proclaim the rights of persons with disabilities like non-disabled.  

Ms. Mona Abdul Karim Al Yafei, Director of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Mr. Nashaat Farhan Sahawneh, Chairman of Al Hamad Construction Contracting Company (the main sponsor of the ceremony) a large number of parents, officials and specialists, and mass media attended the ceremony.

Ms. Mona Abdul Karim Al Yafei has confirmed that SCHS organizes the closing ceremony every year in order to celebrate the success of its students, their parents, and supporters as well as SCHS workers.  SCHS also aims at directing a clear message to society that conveys the extent of talents and potentials, which persons with disabilities have.

Al Yafei said, “SCHS was the first institution to incorporate arts in the service of persons with disabilities throughout the establishment of Emirates Special Arts Group in Sharjah in 1995.  In addition, SCHS was the first to deploy Music Therapy Programs to educate persons with intellectual disability.  SCHS established Arts Creativity Group for Persons with Disabilities independently to complete the efforts of Emirates Special Arts Group in 2010.  In 2017, SCHS established Arts for All Centre to continue its successful journey in this field”.

“We are very happy to graduate a new batch of students from Al Amal School for the Deaf (12th Grade), of day and night school, who are going to join previous graduates, with my best wishes of success for them in their academic life”, added Al Yafei.  


Mr. Nashaat Farhan Sahawneh is very proud of Al Hamad Construction Contracting Company support for SCHS closing ceremony and other activities organized by SCHS.  The company is following the lead of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.  The company also believes in the importance of the work made by Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services to assist persons with disabilities in every area of life.  

He said, “Social responsibility is a behavior, practice, and deep understanding of the rights of persons with disabilities as inseparable segment of the society like non-disabled.  Therefore, individuals and institutions must realize the importance of social responsibility for nations’ development”.

The ceremony began with the national anthem of United Arab Emirates followed by a blessed recitation for some verses from the Holy Quran by student Abbas Abdel-Salam.  Then, Student Bardis Hamdi Abdel Moneim delivered a speech on behalf of SCHS in which she directed her sincerest thanks in her name and the name of her fellow colleagues to Her Excellency Sheikha Aisha bint Mohammed Al Qasimi for her constant love and care.  Special thanks went also to workers with persons with disabilities and those who support them in every area of life”.

After that, Her Excellency Sheikha Aisha bint Mohammed Al Qasimi and Ms. Mona Abdul Karim Al Yafei honored the students who graduated from Al Amal School for the Deaf (12th Grade). They gave them their best wishes of success in their future.

Students are (Mohammad Essam Hamdan, Waleed Abed Allah Yar, Mohammad Hassan, Ali Abdullah Dilm, Saif Ali Saeed, Ahmed Saleh Al Dhafri, Fatima Sultan Al Ali, Badriya Hassan Al Jabri, Hayat Hasan Al Jabri, Hossa Hassan Al Jabri, Anoud Aziz, Nasra Ahmed, and Basma Yousif Hassan).

Sheikha Aisha bint Mohammed Al Qasimi honored the main sponsor of the closing ceremony (Al-Hamd Companies).  Mr. Nashaat Farhan Sahawneh, Chairman of Al Hamad Construction Contracting Company, received the honoring.

As a gesture of appreciation and gratitude for her efforts in sponsoring and encouraging the artistic and innovative talents of persons with disabilities, Mrs. Mona Abdel Karim presented a souvenir from the creations of students with disabilities to Sheikha Aisha bint Mohammed Al Qasimi.  

After that, the band (Sharjah Mayem for Arts and Pantomime) presented an outstanding performance in (From heart to heart) play.  They were able to show a 40 years of giving by Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services since its establishment in 1979.  They astonished the crowd with their ability to express themselves and reflect the deep meanings of the messages they can convey with love to all those who supported them and improved their quality of life.

The director of the play Mohammed Bakr, the Supervisor of Arts for All Centre and SCHS Arts Group, was very proud of all students’ outstanding performance, which rewarded his efforts in rehearsals.

Mr. Wael Samir and Mr. Hassan Al-Hammoudi from Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services handled the task of sign language interpretation during the ceremony.
