As part of its keenness on conducting the educational process in a way, that meets its strategic plans and in accordance with best practices consistent with the country’s orientation, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) would resume the education of its students via (Distance Learning) program beginning on Sunday, March 22, 2020.  SCHS departments and centers are ready to work remotely with its students with disabilities.

Mona Abdul Karim Al-Yafie, Director of SCHS, has confirmed that since the beginning of this week, SCHS specialists and administrators joined an online-platform training program offered by to continue offering the best educational services for persons with disabilities in accordance with individual plans.  This corresponds to the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of SCHS.  In Al Amal School for the Deaf, which Microsoft Corporation chose as a showcase school for five consecutive years, teachers and specialists continued their preparations to implement the Distance Education program through the training program held by the Sharjah Private Education Authority under the theme (Sharjah schools are preparing).

SCHS director said, “Al-Amal School has previous and successful experience in the field of distance learning using the smart education portal.  The school has been implementing the smart learning program for years within the Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Learning Program”.

She explained that the teachers of Al Amal School have the tools and the appropriate equipment for the training and education process. As for students, the Ministry of Education provided a number of them with smart devices.  The Sharjah Education Authority will provide students who do not have this type of device with it as soon as possible.

Teachers and students will adhere to the established study plans and hours of instruction so that the teacher and students connect with each other via smart devices at the same time to explain lessons, apply information, and answer questions.

Mrs. Mona confirmed that SCHS departments and branches completed preparations to provide services according to the best international practices for students of various mental and motor disabilities, autism, etc.  SCHS professionals make educational and training videos. They will send these videos to families to apply at home.

On the other hand, SCHS will use its media platforms and website to raise awareness, educate and communicate with families through the phone numbers of SCHS departments and branches to answer any inquiries by parents and society members during official working hours. The same applies to registering new students, which will also be done online.

Through social media, SCHS will start a direct broadcast that will allow parents to communicate with specialists, ask questions and discuss all developments.

To conclude, Al-Yafie talked about keeping SCHS abreast of all safety measures.  Its personnel received training on approved prevention practices.  She pointed out SCHS’s commitment to the directives of the United Arab Emirates regarding working hours.  Employees with disabilities, staff over 60 years of age, those with chronic diseases, and pregnant women are working remotely.  She confirmed SCHS’s long-standing experience in the field of remote work using the latest technologies and in various fields.
