SHARJAH WOMEN’S UNION ASSOCIATION DONATES 50,000 AED TO SCHS PHYSICAL AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY DEPARTMENT

On Wednesday, March 4, 2020, Mrs. Mona Abdel Karim Al Yafi, Director of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), received 50,000 dirhams donation from Sharjah Women’s Union Association, which is the revenues of (Weekend Market) for used items, which took place at Al Qasbah Cannel.  Ms. Sarah bin Karam, General Manager of the Association, delivered the donation, which SCHS is going to use to develop the services of Physical and Occupational Therapy Department.

On this occasion, Her Highness Sheikha Aisha bint Khalid bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of the Women's Union Association in Sharjah, has confirmed that this type of markets represents a new socio-economic phenomenon to our society in the Gulf.  It represents new idea throughout displaying products at reasonable prices and raising people’s awareness of the positive return from selling second hand items.

She said, “With the cooperation of all, we can promote this type of markets so that community members are not only a consumer but also contributors, investors and supporters of these charitable projects. We see the efforts of community service organizations and voluntary institutions to invest in this type of project as a measure of social advancement”.

She directed her sincerest thanks to Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shrooq) for allocating Al Qasbah Cannel to the market.  She praised the role of the Sharjah Charity Association for its continuous support for the projects carried out by Women’s Union Association, which aims to serve families and society members. She also thanked Asaad Shaab Volunteering Team and the youngsters who contributed to the success of the market.  

“All the gratitude to the families who cooperated with us in presenting the collections in an elegant and organized manner within the (Weekend Market) for used items. We are proud of this humanitarian work, which we present to the leading institution in the field of humanitarian service (Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services).  We value the cooperation of all the blessed efforts in which we felt the sincerity, loyalty, honesty and tireless work that all volunteer teams made, which contributed to the success of this humanitarian work” added Her Highness Sheikha Aisha bint Khalid bin Muhammad Al Qasimi.  She pointed out that the association seeks through charitable work to provide services as a public benefit association for all segments of society. It aims to establish the principle of cooperation and partnership with all institutions of society”.

For her part, Mrs. Mona has pointed out SCHS keenness to consolidate the relationships of cooperation with local, regional, and international bodies in order to continue offering its services to persons with disabilities according to the best international practices.

She said, “Throughout the support of Sharjah Women’s Union Association, SCHS would be able to purchase two Spider Electronic Walking devices. She confirmed that the association's contribution of the Weekend Market revenues is not only financial but also social and informative.  

She explained that this cooperation between the two sides is not the first of its kind, and, God willing, it will not be the last. The Women's Union Association in Sharjah is one of the supporters of persons with disabilities and has always provided a venue for SCHS to organize many lectures, seminars and workshops.

She called on institutions and individuals to support the programs and services that SCHS offers to persons with disabilities because it contributes to promoting the principles of social responsibility and assist SCHS to advance its services as a leading organization in advocating, including, and empowering persons with disabilities.

Mrs. Mona directed her sincerest thanks to Her Highness Sheikha Aisha bint Khalid bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of the Women's Union Association in Sharjah, with her best wishes to all the workers.
