SHEIKHA JAMEELA HONORS THE OUTSTANDING DEAF

Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), honored the two students Abdel Rahman Nasser and Khalifa Abdel Ghafour for winning the first and second places in the 24 UCMAS International Competition. More than 3850 students from 37 countries participated in the competition, which took place in Cambodia. She also honored Ammar Dahib Hassan Dahib for graduating from the University of Sharjah as the first engineer with hearing impairment in United Arab Emirates.

The two teachers at Al Amal School for the Deaf Hana Muhammad Ibrahim, Fawzia Muhammad Taha and Rania Al-Tijani Hamad Al-Nil from the Center for Easy Mathematics received honoring as well from Her Highness for training students and traveling with them to Cambodia.  

After the honoring, Sheikha Jameela expressed her pride of students’ accomplishments. This is the first time that students with hearing impairment participate in UCMAS competition along with hearing peers and achieve the highest ranks in an unprecedented global achievement.  In addition, it is the first time that a person with hearing impairment graduate as an engineer from the University of Sharjah.  Persons with disabilities achievements will not stop at this point.  They will continue to succeed in innovate and reach their dreams.

Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of SCHS, directed her sincerest thanks to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for offering unlimited support to the rights of persons with disabilities in every area of life, mainly in education.

She said, “This accomplishment is not restricted to SCHS only; it belongs to Sharjah and United Arab Emirates.  All the credit goes to the Ruler of Sharjah support”. Her Highness Sheikha Jameela has confirmed that SCHS is keen to set strategic plans to reach the best results in education.  Therefore, SCHS stays tuned with the latest trends in this field according to the best international practices.

She congratulated the students of Al Amal School, teachers, administrators, parents and all workers in Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services.  She asked other students to follow the lead of students with outstanding performance in order to achieve more in the future.

For clarity, SCHS provided the professional training program of UCMAS to 30 of Al Amal School outstanding students.  Al Amal School for the Deaf is the first school for persons with hearing impairment to participate in this international competition.  School’s interest in this contest is not restricted to science, it offers students with hearing impairment new horizons of thinking and fields of self-development, skills development and integration with their hearing peers.

As for the engineer, Ammar, he was a student in Al Amal School for the Deaf.  He won many awards for excellence until graduation from high school, the scientific stream with flying marks. From the beginning, the goal was clear to him. In order to achieve it, he committed himself to studying, hardworking and overcoming challenges.

Students with hearing impairment directed their sincerest thanks to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for offering his constant support and advocating persons with disabilities rights.  Special thanks went to Her Highness Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi. Students emphasized that the words of thanks will not fulfill her right.  They also directed their thanks to Al Amal School for the Deaf and the University of Sharjah with hopes for more cooperation and success.
