A WARM WELCOME FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

Her Excellency Sheikha Jamila bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), congratulated students with disabilities, their parents, and SCHS workers on the new school year.  Her Excellency blessed students’ return to their classrooms in all departments and branches in line with the directives of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. The city took all preventive measures in order to ensure students' health and safety.

She stressed that the city continues to follow the path of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The city always pays attention to knowledge and education in line with its leadership as the first institution concerned with persons with disabilities in the United Arab Emirates.

She explained the city's constant keenness to appoint the best-qualified specialists, trainers and teachers. The city makes huge efforts to advocate, include and empower persons with disabilities in various fields.

Her Excellency Sheikha Jamila said, “The city continues to work to consolidate and develop cooperation on an ongoing basis with local, regional and international institutions to serve people with disabilities in accordance with international best practices”.

As has been the case since the beginning of the pandemic, the city has made great efforts in sterilizing classrooms and buildings to receive its students with disabilities, keeping pace with the highest levels of security and safety. The city motivated all its workers to follow the approved prevention measures.

On her part, Ms. Mona Abdel Karim Al Yafei, City Director, confirmed the continuation of educational services with the development of programs and activities in accordance with the latest practices under the directives of Her Excellency the Director General of the city.

She added, “The achievements made during the distance learning phase are clear evidence of city's seriousness in its relentless pursuit of empowering, educating and integrating persons with disabilities into society”.

In this context, Al Yafei spoke about the city's ongoing efforts to develop its corporate strategy, identify strengths and challenges, build capabilities, and ensure a more sustainable work of the institution.
