The functioning of the “Zakat Funds Disbursement” committee in Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services

Introduction to the committee

The Zakat Fund Disbursement Committee was formed in the city on 5/11/2013 by Administrative Resolution No. (4) for the academic year 2013-2014.

On 2/2/2017, an appendix to Administrative Decision No. (4) for the academic year 2013-2014 was issued regarding the re-formation of the Zakat Account Secretariat Committee, based on the directives of Her Excellency Sheikha Jameela bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, and her Excellency was nominated to the members of the committee. This is in order to determine the eligibility for disbursing the collected zakat funds based on the legal aspects.

Zakat funds are disbursed to beneficiaries of people with disabilities, needy students, and those enrolled in support services in Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, by covering the expenses of fees for education, training and rehabilitation services.


Committee members

  • The general supervisor of the committee, responsible for planning and follow-up in SCHS.
  • Members of social workers in SCHS.
  • Managing Director of the Sharjah Charity Association..

Tasks of the Committee

The committee undertakes the tasks of disbursing zakat funds received for SCHS, which are stipulated by Islamic law, with complete credibility and transparency:

  • Cases according to the economic case study.
  • School fees, rehabilitation sessions, and treatment sessions.
  • Transportation.
  • The aids.
  • Environmental empowerment.
  • The rest of the legal aspects of exchange.

Confirmation and approval mechanism by the committee

The Zakat Funds Disbursement Committee taking over and reviewing the file of the economic case study for each beneficiary "the documents provided by the guardian".

Then the subsidy or exemption is spent on the case based on the legitimate aspects of zakat disbursement.
